Creating VR Lessons

Date: 07/01/2020 Audience: Year 12 BTEC Venue: G35, Lesson 2
Title: Creating VR content through Tour creator
Presenters / Conductors: Ms. Shalini & Ms. Jane
Aims & Objective: To develop a platform for students to build their own 360-degree tours
Summary:
Virtual Reality (VR) is the most immersive and exciting way of experiencing something, second only to actually being there. VR transports the viewer to another environment, either artificial or real.
On 7th January 2020, I had conducted a session in order to empower BTEC Business students in creating VR using tour creator to promote Product Marketing. By creating specific subjects, students can share their own experiences in VR. Students were introduced to Tour Creator, which enables students, to make VR tour using imagery from Google Street View or their own 360 photos. The objective of the tool is to produce professional-level VR content. This technology has enabled students to focus on crafting fantastic visual stories. After the session, students were divided into 8 teams and were asked to create their own VR content in order to promote the new/ exiting product. The idea was to introduce students to new technology in promoting products. This activity enabled students to create immersive 360 degree tours which can be shared with and viewed by others. Once the students had created the tour, it was published on Poly.

Student/Parent/Teacher Feedback:
Interactive VR allows the students to interact with the experience, turning them from a viewer into an active participant. This will help us in our future projects – Aadil Sameer
Students can re-create the experience in VR, reflecting on their experience and explaining what they’ve learned. This will help the students in their corporate life in the future – Ms. Shalini
