Journey to Zero Waste UAE as a part of WIN GREEN Week !

Venue: Winchester Classrooms

Aims & Objectives: To create an awareness of the significance of environmental sustainability for the preservation of the planet.

-To recognize the responsibilities of all global citizens in moving towards a Zero Waste economy and society.

Summary: As a part of the WIN Green Week the Business students of Years 10 to 13 worked on a Learning Menu-“Journey to ‘Zero Waste’ UAE” in their respective lessons. The Choice Board included a range of activities from creating innovative product prototypes to Ad campaigns and Infographics. The idea was to reinforce the importance of various stakeholders-individual households, businesses and governments in moving towards a Zero waste society and economy. The WIN Green Week generated an enthusiastic response from the students and the collaborative activities resulted in thought-provoking presentations.

“The WIN Green Week was filled with fascinating activities during lessons such as booklet making and report writing which focused on Zero Waste, allowing us to gain more knowledge about this topic. “I was delighted with the proceedings of the Win green week. The main aim of Year 12’s week was to take part in activities which help us move towards a “zero waste home”. The activities ranged from song making to brochure making. What intrigued me the most was the WIN TED session. “The Win Green week interested me and my peers in many ways. We were given activities in class ranging from poster making to song producing which aided us to understand the true meaning of sustainability and a greener future. Another event that caught my attention was WinTed, I learnt about the sustainability of oil consumption which links to key topics surrounding a subject which I take, economics.” Ankit Mehta (Year 12 Economics)
